Volunteer Opportunities for People Who Like to LISTEN:

CONTACT of Mercer County Announces its Spring, 2019, HOTLINE Volunteer Training Courses: Tuesdays, February 12 – April 23, 2019 choice of morning (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) or evenings (7:00 – 10:00 pm) classes in Pennington, NJ.  Training covers Mental Health First Aid, Active Listening Skills and Suicide Prevention Techniques. For more information: call 609-737-2000.  Learn how to help people in emotional need or sucidal crisis. A training donation of $35 is requested.

Learn Better Listening Skills and Help Save a Life! Take CONTACT’S 40 Hour HOTLINE Training Course which starts on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and runs weekly through April 23, 2019 with no class on March 19th, choice of morning (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) or evening (7:00 – 10:00 pm) classes. Classes are held at the Pennington United Methodist Church.  Sessions 1-6, which include Mental Health First Aid training, are open to everyone, without a commitment to volunteer.  After finishing Sessions 1-6, volunteers will have met the pre-requisites for CONTACT’s higher level of training which will be taught in Sessions 7-10. Following Session 10 there is an Apprenticeship which includes taking calls on CONTACT’S HOTLINE. A training donation of $35 is requested.

The training course is offered in morning and evening sessions. 

9:30 am – 12:30 pm (Mornings)

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Evenings)

Training classes will be held on the second floor of the office building behind the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 S. Main Street, Pennington, New Jersey 08534.  The church parking lot is free and adjacent to the church.
