Take a Shopping Bag Give to a Critically Important Local Organization

CONTACT of Mercer County Selected as Donation recipient for Reusable Bag Charity Program at Pennington Stop & Shop

PENNINGTON, NJ, April 23, 2021 — For the entire month of May, shoppers who purchase reusable bags at the Pennington Stop & Shop, located at 800 Denow Rd., will not only be contributing to environmental protection but will be contributing to CONTACT of Mercer County. CONTACT is a non-profit organization that trains volunteers to actively listen to those in crisis or contemplating suicide and is an important resource to the residents of the Mercer County region.

For every reusable bag sold to shoppers, Stop & Shop will donate $1 to CONTACT.

For 45 years, CONTACT has been fulfilling a critical mission throughout Mercer County and beyond by listening and providing non-judgmental, emotional support, strength, and compassion to people in crisis and helping to empower them as they seek to develop a strong sense of well-being and desire to live.

CONTACT wholeheartedly thanks Stop & Shop for this considerate gesture,” said CONTACT of Mercer County Executive Director Eleanor Letcher, M.Ed., CSW. “In addition to helping us raise operating funds, the reusable bag donation program helps raise awareness about suicide prevention and crisis intervention by informing the public about an organization like CONTACT which continues to fill a vitally important need.”

As part of this ongoing program, every month a different local non-profit is selected to benefit from the sale of the reusable Stop & Shop bags.
