Volunteer Opportunities for People Who Like to LISTEN:

Learn Better Listening Skills and Help Save a Life! Take CONTACT’S 40 Hour HOTLINE Training Course which starts on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 and runs weekly through April 21, 2020 with no class on March 17th, choice of morning (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) or evening (7:00 – 10:00 pm) classes. Classes are held at the Pennington United Methodist Church.


Sessions 1-6, which include Mental Health First Aid training, are open to everyone, without a commitment to volunteer.  After finishing Sessions 1-6, volunteers will have met the pre-requisites for CONTACT’s higher level of training which will be taught in Sessions 7-10. After Session 10 there is an Apprenticeship obligation of taking calls on CONTACT’S HOTLINE and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255). For those completing Session 10, additional training will be optional for those who wish to volunteer taking chats and texts online.


The course fee is $35 for Sessions 1-6, which includes one book and the nationally recognized Mental Health First Aid Training.  There is no additional chrage for Sessions 7-1o and Aprenticeship.

The training course is offered in morning and evening sessions. 

9:30 am – 12:30 pm (Mornings)

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Evenings)

Training classes will be held on the second floor of the office building behind the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 S. Main Street, Pennington, New Jersey 08534.  The church parking lot is free and adjacent to the church.
